This elevated vantage point offers a stunning panoramic view of Te Anau town, the alps and the stunning lake below. A great place to view the Southern Aurora from.Te Anau Bird Sanctuary The Te Anau Bird Sanctuary (Punanga Manu o Te Anau) is set on the shores of Lake Te Anau. It is open from dawn to dusk and can cater for guided tours if booked in advance through the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre. Entry is free, but a gold coin donation is appreciated. The park is a great family friendly place to visit, allowing you to take a peek at some of New Zealand"s special birds that are difficult to see in the wild.Te Anau Glow Worm Caves Take a captivating journey into the Te Anau Glowworm Caves, beginning with a scenic lake cruise before venturing underground into a hidden world of twisting limestone passages and magical glowworm displays. Perfect for all ages, it's an unforgettable way to experience the magic of Fiordland day and night.Marakura Wharf Marakura Wharf is one of the best spots to watch the sunrise or sunset over the lake. Right by the Marakura Yacht Club, only 10 minutes from the town centre and easy to reach by car or a short walk. The leading lines of the jetty and the reflections on the calm water make it excellent for photos, especially with a wide-angle lens.Rainbow Reach Swing Bridge Rainbow Reach swing bridge is a scenic suspension bridge over the Waiau River, great for photos and a classic Fiordland nature moment. Located on State Highway 95 between Te Anau and Manapouri, about 12km from town centre. You can walk from Te Anau of the control gates of the Kepler Track and then on to Rainbow Reach, about 9.5km one way.Fiordland Cinema A great way to unwind at the end of the day with a spectacular visual experience, our local cinema runs a collection of locally produced short films in addition to mainstream feature films.
